Exactly fifty years after the Rebbe introduced the 12 Pesukim on Lag BaOmer 5736, Chabad.org’s ChabadU is launching a new course that brings the Torah wisdom they contain to Jewish parents everywhere.
When the Rebbe introduced the 12 Pesukim on Lag BaOmer 5736, he also explained the deep wisdom each of the verses he chose contains. Yet, most people have only seen the surface.
The Rebbe’s 12 invites parents to look closer and discover that these verses weren’t chosen for children alone. They carry within them a complete philosophy of Jewish child-rearing: how to build identity, instill resilience, nurture a child’s relationship with G-d, and guide behavior with empathy and calm.
The course is presented by Shterna Rappaport, an educator with experience spanning early childhood through seminary. She has served as a teacher, preschool assistant director, and mentor, and is widely known for her warm, structured approach to making Chassidic and Torah values accessible and developmentally appropriate. Shterna currently works in the Merkos Chinuch office, supporting Jewish education initiatives globally, and runs parent workshops that strengthen the home–school partnership and promote intentional, Torah-based parenting.
The four-session series covers:
- Class 1 — Raising a Confident Jewish Child (May 26): How to strengthen identity, not just behavior, and help children discover the inherent worth and purpose they were born with.
- Class 2 — Raising a Motivated Child (June 2): How to turn frustration into drive, validate struggle, and build the kind of resilience that lasts.
- Class 3 — Helping Your Child Feel G-d’s Presence (June 9): Transforming abstract belief into lived emotional security, using everyday parenting moments to help children feel safe and never alone.
- Class 4 — Raising Kinder, Calmer Kids (June 16): Separating a child’s identity from their impulses, and creating more cooperation, connection, and calm at home.
The Rebbe’s 12 is free of charge (a suggested donation of $40 is welcomed), approximately 30 minutes per week, and open to the public with registration. It is presented by Chabad.org / ChabadU.
