Sunday: Monsey Cheder to Dedicate New Campus
This Sunday, Cheder Chabad – Beit Shvidler dedicates its new multi-million-dollar campus in New City. The event marks a long-held dream and will feature a boys’ choir performance and family activities including a shlaikes show, photobooth, and treats for all attendees.
A major step forward for chinuch in Monsey will be celebrated this Sunday, as Cheder Chabad of Monsey invites the community to a special building dedication ceremony at its newly acquired multi-million-dollar campus in New City.
The event is set to be a special moment for the entire Monsey community, marking the realization of a long-held dream: creating a permanent, expansive home for the cheder’s continued growth.
The dedication will take place on Sunday at 228 New Hempstead Road in New City, beginning at 2:00 PM. The program will open with the official building dedication ceremony at the main entrance, featuring a performance by the Cheder boys’ choir.
Following the ceremony, families will enjoy a full lineup of outdoor activities, including a shlaikes show, photobooth, ice cream, cotton candy, and popcorn.
The celebration comes several months after a major development for the moisad. On Thursday, Beis Adar, Cheder Chabad of Monsey finalized the purchase of the new property – a sprawling 5-acre campus that previously housed Temple Beth Shalom.
The newly acquired site already includes significant infrastructure: a large shul space with capacity for 350 people, a social hall accommodating 280, a commercial kitchen, office space, and a classroom wing that has been serving as the cheder’s preschool.
This expansion allows the hanhala to plan for the future in a serious, structured way. In its first phase, the cheder intends to construct a 30,000-square-foot wing dedicated to the boys’ school, addressing the needs of a rapidly growing kehilla. The planned campus will include bright, modern classrooms, indoor recreational space, and upgraded outdoor facilities.
Future development plans also feature sports fields, outdoor learning areas, and an educational garden – all designed to give talmidim the ability to grow to their fullest, both b’gashmiyus and b’ruchniyus.
The full project is expected to total approximately $12.5 million upon completion.
“This purchase will propel our Cheder into a new era of growth, allowing us to meet the demands of our growing community and to further enhance the quality of our chinuch,” said director Rabbi Dovid Brawer at the time of the acquisition.
