With the outbreak of World War II, Rav Schneerson launched his most daring initiative: sheltering 120 Jewish children in France, moving them from place to place to stay one step ahead of the Nazis and their collaborators, all while ensuring their Torah education remained a priority.

Reb Zalman was the father of Mrs. Haddasa Carlebach, who passed away this week at the age of 99.
