Help the Rabbeim’s Organization Rebuild Life Among Israel’s Poorest
Life in Tzfas after the war has been a constant struggle. Businesses that were open for decades have closed. Families and individuals are struggling as never before.
Life in Tzfas after the war has been a constant struggle. Businesses that were open for decades have closed. Families and individuals are struggling as never before.
One time-tested organization is stepping up to meet this terrible challenge. An organization that the Rabbeim personally invested in. And they’re asking for your help and partnership at this most crucial time.
The Tzemach Tzedek invested greatly in Yerushalayim, in Tzfas, and in other major holy cities. Tzfas is a city most in need. When the Rebbe sent shluchim to Tzfas 50 years ago, one of the first missions was to rebuild the shul that the Tzemach Tzedek had founded — a project that was near and dear to the Rebbe. Rabbi and Rebbetzin Marzel were sent by the Rebbe on Shushan Purim Katan 5738 (1978) and have been meeting the needs of the community ever since.
The aftermath of the war and these past few years is beyond belief. It is our mission to rebuild and to give those who rely on us the support they need to rebuild their lives.
The Rabbeim have invested their resources in the Tzemach Tzedek Shul as a center for Jewish life. The Rebbe personally paid for the first renovation and reestablishment of the shul before the Yom Kippur War and maintained a strong, ongoing interest in the growth of the Shul and the Chabad House.
We are asking you to donate and partner with an organization that the Rabbeim themselves supported — one in which they personally invested their time. This shul is the source of the community; everything sprouted and grew from this organization, and it remains the key center for olim and for many who rely on us both physically and spiritually.
There is another pressing reason that now is the time.
Tzfas Is Rebuilding — And No Jew Should Do It Alone
Tzfas has always been a city of light — the city of the Arizal, the mekubalim, and generations of Yidden who elevated the world with both the Revealed and Hidden Aspects of Torah. But after the recent war, the city is carrying deep wounds.
Families are struggling to regain stability.
Businesses have collapsed.
Tourism — a key backbone of the local economy — has slowed to a trickle.
And many olim who arrived with hope now find themselves overwhelmed by the challenges of starting life in a shaken economy.
In this moment, Tzfas needs more than charity.
It needs guidance, strength, and spiritual support.
The Rebbe sent Rabbi and Rebbetzin Marzel to rebuild the city of Tzfas, physically and spiritually — and that is exactly what they are doing. The Tzemach Tzedek Shul is the center for olim as well as many native-born Israelis, and both feel fully at home there. We offer daily learning, growing classes, and real help for olim. In recent years, we have built a team that assists with immigration, referrals for social services, and finding fair-priced housing in religious areas. Those who need these services are encouraged to contact the number on the linked fund.
Rabbi Gavriel Marzel’s father, Rabbi Moshe Chaim Marzel, A”H, was the first to settle with his family in the newly freed section of Yerushalayim after the Six Day War. His actions inspired many — including his own nephew, activist Baruch Marzel.
Rabbi Gavriel Marzel is uniquely equipped, together with his team, to handle the needs of olim both materially and spiritually. Yet the demand is overwhelming, and we need you to partner in this essential work.
The Alter Rebbe teaches that giving tzedakah in Eretz Yisroel brings down brachos and Geulah much more quickly than anywhere else, as discussed in Tanya, Iggeres HaKodesh chapters 8 and 14. This is especially true now — when your partnership is most needed and helps so many.
