Dozens Hear Aseres Hadibros Near Trump Rally in Monsey
When President Donald Trump’s Shavuos visit brought large numbers of Yidden to the area around Rockland Community College, bochurim from the nearby “Pomona Mesivta” spent hours leining Aseres Hadibros for one group after another.
President Donald Trump’s visit to Rockland County on Shavuos drew unusual attention to Suffern, with thousands registered for the White House event at Rockland Community College’s Eugene Levy Fieldhouse and traffic changes around College Road and Viola Road as security preparations reshaped the area for much of the day.
For local Lubavitcher bochurim, the event became an opportunity. With many Yidden gathered in the area on Shavuos, bochurim from the nearby Pomona Mesivta set up minyanim and leined Krias HaTorah multiple times, allowing group after group to hear the leining of Aseres Hadibros on Shavuos.
The bochurim, who had stayed up all night for Tikun Leil Shavuos and learning, gladly gave up their time of rest on Shavuos day to allow other Yidden to hear Aseres Hadibros.
The effort came after Suffern shliach Rabbi Shmuel Gancz spent days trying to arrange for Aseres Hadibros to be read inside the arena itself. The plan met strong pushback due to Secret Service restrictions, and with the help of the Lev Teen Center, arrangements were made so Yidden attending the presidential visit would still be able to hear Aseres Hadibros.
“The Rebbe had a huge koch that every man, woman, and child should hear Aseres Hadibros,” Rabbi Gancz said. “The bochurim came with tremendous chayus and worked very hard, bringing people in from all corners of the area.”
Multiple minyanim were held over the course of the day, and hundreds of people heard Aseres Hadibros. The bochurim also distributed hundreds of ices to those who came to hear the reading.
