Did You Remember This Forgotten Chabad Minhag?
Yud-Beis Tammuz was Shabbos. The Rebbe’s annual minhag for the day can still be fulfilled today.
Shabbos marked Yud-Beis Tammuz, the chag hageulah of the Frierdiker Rebbe.
In Sefer Haminhagim Chabad, the authorized collection of Chabad customs, the minhag is recorded clearly:
“On Yud-Beis Tammuz, the Rebbe would hold a magbis for the Oholei Yosef Yitzchok institutions.”
Those institutions are not some ancient piece of Chabad history. They are alive, active and growing.
Today, Oholei Yosef Yitzchok is known across Eretz Yisroel as “the Reshet,” a network of Chabad schools serving children in dozens of communities. In a setup unlike almost anywhere else in the world, the Reshet provides a full chinuch framework combining strong academics with authentic Yiddishe education.
And today, that work is more urgent than ever. Across Eretz Yisroel, tens of thousands of Jewish children are growing up without even a basic Jewish education. The Reshet is on the front lines, giving those children the Torah, identity and chinuch they need.
Every year, chassidim who deeply care about what the Rebbe cared about take part in the Yud-Beis Tammuz magbis for the Reshet.
Since Yud-Beis Tammuz fell on Shabbos this year, today is the day to take part.
Donate today. Join the Rebbe’s magbis. Help bring Jewish education to every Jewish child in Eretz Yisroel.
