Mrs. Devorah Leah Reiter, who together with her husband led Chabad of Roslyn on Long Island, passed away on Thursday.

She was 47.

Following their marriage, she and her husband, Rabbi Yaakov Reiter, moved on shlichus to Roslyn, where they served the community for many years alongside the senior shluchim, Rabbi Aaron Konikov and Mrs. Chanie Konikov.

Mrs. Reiter was remembered as a devoted shlucha who selflessly dedicated herself to growing the community while caring for her family of nine.

Just before her 40th birthday, she was diagnosed with a severe illness and endured years of unimaginable suffering, including being bedridden for two years and permanently relying on a feeding tube.

Despite her harrowing journey, she remained steadfast in her emunah and inspired countless people with her unwavering strength, resilience, and deep connection to Hashem.

“She was my favorite person!”, one community member said. “She welcomed us into her home a few times and was such a dedicated person in building our Roslyn/Westbury Jewish community together with Rabbi Reiter. This is a tremendous loss!”

“Not enough words to describe the kind and beautiful inside and out lady that she was”, another one added. “A true loss for the entire community”.

She is survived by her husband, Rabbi Yaakov Reiter, her children and grandchildren, as well as her parents, Shimon and Yaffa Leba Gottlieb, and her in-laws, Dr. Levi and Raizel Reiter.

The levaya will take place on Friday and will pass by 770 Eastern Parkway at 12:00 PM.

Yehi zichrah baruch.
