Crown Heights Women Enjoy Shabbos Retreat

Who said erev shabbos can’t be relaxing?

Last week, 48 women ushered Shabbos in with serene joy at Rosenhaus Estate in Morristown. Joining together for the Crown Heights Women’s Circle’s fourth shabbaton, the women of varied ages and backgrounds lit candles as the sun lowered itself behind the rolling hills.

Earlier on Friday, guests enjoyed a sumptuous buffet lunch and a plethora of activities. In an enlightening presentation, Mrs. Malka Touger explored the Torah’s way in effective communication. Professional sheitel machers and makeup artists offered mini-sessions. Many women settled on the veranda to create wood-burned challah boards.

Mrs. Rivky Brikman, shlucha to Seagate, welcomed everyone to the shabbaton, then shared her personal story. Later, Brikman and Touger were joined by Mrs. Rishe Deitsch at a late-night farbrengen that lasted into the early morning. Workshops and classes throughout Shabbos explored topics such as shalom bayis, chinuch, and personal growth.

The learning and inspiration was organic as well, with pockets of women studying or conversing throughout the mansion and grounds.
Over shabbos, guests enjoyed lavish meals sponsored by various Crown Heights establishments.

Mr. Greens, Sushi Spot and Bunch O Bagels are proud supporters of the Circle; Raskins Fish donated generously in memory of Sholom Dov Ber ben Ahron Leib. The Printhouse, Apple Drugs, Mimulo and Post Mark-It all contributed to making the shabbaton beautiful and meaningful.

The value of this shabbos extends far beyond the attendees themselves. Each woman returned to her home healthy and motivated to personally grow and armed to continue her individual journey. Her weekend away, with all the pampering and inspiration it included, impacted not only her and her family but the broader community as well.

The Women’s Circle is an inclusive community of Crown Heights women. Its signature program is a Wednesday morning Chassidus shiur open to all women (and their babies). It is held every Wednesday, rain or shine, at 9:30 am at The Shul on Albany Ave and is free of charge. Special events throughout the year bring powerful topics to the fore.
