The home of shliach to Sderot Rabbi Chananel Pizem suffered a direct hit from a Hamas rocket on Wednesday causing extensive damage to the building.

Thankfully, Rabbi Pizem who was standing mere feet away and was preparing to head out on Mivtza Tefillin was uninjured. His family was not home at the time of the attack.

The destruction of his home and extensive loss of property did not prevent him from immediately continuing his shlichus. After briefly assessing the damage, he departed for an IDF base where he raised the spirits of the soldiers and wrapped tefillin with them.

“The Rebbe’s picture that stood in the living room at the center of the destruction was not damaged, but the entire house is surrounded by fragments, destruction, holed walls, sand and broken furniture,” Rabbi Pizem shared.
