Rabbi Eliyahu Wolovik, a veteran Sofer and longtime Gabbai of the Chabad Shul in Kiryat Malachi, passed away Thursday, 9 Sivan, 5781.

Rabbi Eliyahu Wolovik, a veteran Sofer and longtime Gabbai of the central Chabad Shul in Kiryat Malachi, passed away.

He was 81 years old.

Rabbi Wolovik was born in the Soviet Union where he studied with mesirus nefesh at the Chabad underground Yeshivas.

In 5732, he succeeded in obtaining exit visas for himself and his family, and immigrated to Eretz Yisroel, and settled in the newly established Chabad community in Kiryat Malachi.

For decades he served as Gabbai in the central Chabad Shul in Nachlas Har Chabad and gave his heart and soul to the Shul and its congregants.

He was well regarded as an expert Sofer who wrote in the Alter Rebbe‘s ksav, and was known for his Yiras Shamayim.

He is survived by his children Rabbi Yitzchok Wolowik of Queens, NY; Chana Gloiberman, Doba Shaikevitz, both of Eretz Yisroel, and grandchildren.
