Rabbi Moshe Wolvovsky has been appointed as the official mashpia of the Chabad shtiebel minyan at Boca Raton Synagogue (BRS) in Florida. The appointment was marked with a special visit to the Rebbe’s Ohel, together with the shul’s senior rabbi, Rabbi Efrem Goldberg, Associate Rabbi Philip Moskowitz, and members of the kehillah.

The Chabad minyan operates within the larger Boca Raton Synagogue, bringing a Chassidishe atmosphere to a diverse Orthodox congregation. Rabbi Goldberg described the arrangement as unusual and reflective of the shul’s broader commitment to achdus among Yidden of different backgrounds.

“It’s very unusual that a shul has a Chabad kehillah within the greater shul,” Rabbi Goldberg said. “It really reflects what we are.”

The group traveled to the Ohel to mark the beginning of Rabbi Wolvovsky’s new role, which Rabbi Goldberg described as a position of leadership not only within the Chabad minyan but in the broader kehillah as well.

Rabbi Wolvovsky is a longtime shliach with Chabad of Central Boca Raton, where he and his wife, Henni, direct The Wisdom Circle, an organization dedicated to bringing Jewish learning and inspiration to seniors throughout the area. He has also been active in the local Anash community, organizing farbrengens and community events, including a Siyum HaRambam at Boca Raton Synagogue.

Asked why it was important to begin this new chapter at the Ohel, Rabbi Wolvovsky pointed to the Rebbe’s emphasis on ahavas Yisroel and achdus Yisroel.

“I feel that the Rebbe’s ahavas Yisroel was really such an example for what you’re creating in Boca Raton, and really what the goal is for the shtiebel minyan and for going forward,” he said.

Rabbi Wolvovsky explained that the goal goes beyond bringing together Yidden from different backgrounds.

“It’s more than just ahavas Yisroel, that different Yidden can get along, but really achdus Yisroel, to recognize that Yidden are really one,” he said. “What looks different, different backgrounds, different nusach, different style, is really not what the Yid is.”

Rabbi Goldberg noted that he and Rabbi Moskowitz frequently visit the Ohel when traveling to New York, drawing inspiration from the wide range of people who come there.

“That’s what we’re trying to do,” he said of Boca Raton Synagogue. “A place that all Klal Yisroel can feel comfortable, a Klal Yisroel shul, a Klal Yisroel place that’s holy, that we can draw from here.”

The visit included learning and davening at the Ohel, followed by a farbrengen with members of the kehillah, including Alan Berger and Aaron Klein.

Rabbi Goldberg warmly welcomed Rabbi Wolvovsky to the shul’s rabbinic team, expressing excitement about the new appointment and the opportunities ahead.

“It’s a tremendous zechus that we have you as part of our rabbinic team,” he said.
