Over 150 Bochurim Conclude Tishrei at the Rebbe’s Ohel

More than 150 bochurim from Eretz Yisroel spent the entire month of Tishrei near the Rebbe’s Ohel, enjoying a full program of learning, farbrengens, meals, and accommodations provided by Hachnosas Orchim.

For the fifth consecutive year, Hachnosas Orchim at the Rebbe’s Ohel hosted bochurim from Eretz Yisroel throughout the month of Tishrei, providing for their needs both begashmiyus and beruchniyus.

This year marked a significant expansion of the program, with more than 150 bochurim receiving a complete framework of meals, accommodations, structured learning sedorim, shiurim, and farbrengens, along with dedicated rabbonim and mashpi’im who accompanied them throughout the month.

During Sukkos, the bochurim spent their days visiting surrounding communities and reaching out to Yidden through Mivtza Lulav. Each evening, they returned for a hearty meal in the sukkah, followed by learning sichos of the Rebbe connected to the Yom Tov and lively farbrengens with mashpi’im and shluchim.

Among those who farbrenged with the bochurim were Rabbi Yoske Gopin of Connecticut, Rabbi Mendel Morozov of the 770 yeshiva, and others.

Each night of Chol Hamoed, following the farbrengens, hundreds of bochurim gathered for spirited singing and dancing in the parking lot of the nearby Stop & Shop, continuing until well after daybreak. Hachnosas Orchim arranged transportation to and from the location, musical accompaniment, and a sukkah stocked with l’chaim, mezonos, and refreshments.

On Wednesday of Chol Hamoed, mashpia Rabbi Eliyahu Kirshenbaum arrived from Eretz Yisroel to accompany the bochurim for the final half of the month. He continued the work of Rabbi Shlomo Koenig, who guided the bochurim at the beginning of Tishrei, and Rabbi Mendel Morozov, who accompanied them during the middle of the month.

Like his predecessors, Rabbi Kirshenbaum spent his days learning together with the bochurim, delivering shiurim, and leading farbrengens.

A particularly memorable event took place on the night of Shemini Atzeres, following Hakafos, when dozens of bochurim gathered for a lively farbrengen with Rabbi Kirshenbaum. The spirited gathering continued into the early hours of the morning, after which the bochurim joined the dancing that carried on until daybreak.

With the conclusion of Yom Tov and the beginning of “V’Yaakov Halach L’darko,” the bochurim devoted the following days to intensive learning of Nigleh and Chassidus, using specially prepared study materials drawn from the Rebbe’s Torah. Rabbi Kirshenbaum also delivered additional shiurim in Chassidus.

A highlight of the program came when more than 80 bochurim took a comprehensive written test covering the material studied throughout the month, including a selected sugya in the Rebbe’s Torah and specially chosen pages of Gemara.

Bochurim who maintained the learning sedorim and successfully completed the test earned substantial stipends toward the considerable cost of their flights from Eretz Yisroel. The initiative was made possible through the generous support of shliach Rabbi Shmuel Yeshayahu.

On Thursday night, a special Tzeischem L’shalom farbrengen was held with Rabbi Meir Shur of Tomchei Temimim Chovevei Torah. Rabbi Shur spoke about the importance of “unpacking the suitcases” of Tishrei, taking the inspiration and experiences of a month spent with the Rebbe and bringing them into everyday life throughout the year.

The extensive Hachnosas Orchim operation was made possible through the generous contributions of hundreds of shluchim and Anash worldwide.

Special thanks were extended to Rabbi Eliyahu Schlossberg, who stands behind the entire undertaking, Reb Menachem Seltzer, Rabbi Shmuel Yeshayahu, and Rabbi Yitzchok Mishan, along with the many other shluchim and members of Anash who partnered in providing both the physical and spiritual needs of the Rebbe’s guests spending Tishrei in his holy daled amos.
