New Project Revisits Early Volumes of Likkutei Sichos

An exciting new project by SIE will revisit the Rebbe’s most fundamental teachings – Likkutei Sichos volumes Alef and Beis – with a new translation and elucidation in the style of the acclaimed ‘Selections from Likkutei Sichos’ set.

Marking 75 years of the Rebbe’s leadership, Sichos in English is launching a new initiative to reintroduce the fundamental sichos from Likkutei Sichos volumes Alef and Beis to a new generation.

The sichos of Likkutei Sichos Chelek Alef and Beis are considered foundational, distilling the Rebbe’s core teachings and offering a framework for viewing the world through the lens of Torah and Chassidus.

With this new translation, these sichos will become accessible in their original Yiddish to a new generation of Yidden. Even those less fluent in Yiddish will be able to use the side-by-side English translation to experience studying the Rebbe’s sichos as they were originally spoken.

The sichos will be translated in the style of the acclaimed ‘Selections from Likkutei Sichos’ series, published by Sichos in English over the past six years, and warmly received and acclaimed by people of all backgrounds.

Beginning this week, subscribers will receive the weekly parsha’s sicha via email or WhatsApp at no cost. Subscribers are welcome to print and share these sichos for their families, learning groups, and shuls.

Today, Likkutei Sichos is the most well known of the Rebbe’s teachings—but that wasn’t always the case. There was a time when chassidim pleaded for the Rebbe to edit his sichos.

Rabbi Leibel Raskin, shliach to Morocco, later recalled those efforts:

“Thursday night, I came to Rabbi Hodakov to inquire about the sicha. He told me: ‘On the Rebbe’s desk, there are more than 800 letters—a large portion of them dealing with matters of life and death, pikuach nefesh. What is more important, to answer these letters or to be magiah a sicha?!’

“I responded: ‘The sicha will strengthen chazaras dach in the shuls—thousands of Jews will hear these sichos. It is a spiritual pikuach nefesh!’

“Rabbi Hodakov told me to wait. After contacting the Rebbe by phone, he called me back and informed me that in half an hour, the Rebbe would return the sicha—mugah!” (Derher Cheshvan 5779).

It is these very sichos that this new project will now be presenting to a new generation.

As we celebrate 75 years of the Rebbe’s leadership, now is the perfect time to join this initiative and engage in the weekly study of these foundational sichos. Sign up today and illuminate each week with the Rebbe’s timeless words—just as relevant now as when they were first delivered and published.
