Mrs. Malka (Doris) Lazar, a Holocaust survivor who built a large Chabad family in Montreal, Canada, passed away on Tuesday, 20 Shevat, 5781.

Mrs. Malka (Doris) Lazar, a holocaust survivor who built a large Chabad family in Montreal, Canada, passed away Tuesday, 20 Shevat, 5781.

She was 83 years old.

As a young child, she survived the Holocaust while hiding with her mother and sister Ruth. Her father Mordechai was murdered by the Nazis.

She was raised by her mother Leeba a”h, who educated her two daughters in Alsace, France, before emigrating to Canada.

In Montreal, she married R’ Yosef Tzvi Lazar, also a Holocaust survivor and together they dedicated her life to her family.

She was a true Woman of Valor and role model who taught by example how to be God-fearing Jews. She was meticulous in the observance of Mitzvos, measured her words carefully, and lived a life of truth and integrity.

She was predeceased by her husband R’ Yosef Tzvi Lazar in 5770.

She is survived by her children Fruma Zajac of Montreal, Motty Lazar of Montreal, Sara Shubov of Crown Heights, Rochel Leah Shur of Toronto, Eli Lazar of London, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

The Levaya for will take place graveside at 3:00 pm today, Lubavitch Chelka, Mount Pleasant Cemetery

Shiva will be at 4974 Kent until Monday morning.
