A grand Siyum Sefer Torah will take place on Chof Kislev, Chag Hageulah of the Alter Rebbe, celebrating the completion of the Miracle Sefer Torah, written in response to the global pandemic.

As the coronavirus spread across the world and devastated many communities, the new Sefer Torah was commissioned to combat the pandemic.

Inspiration for the new Torah came from the famous story of the Baal Shem Tov, who instructed his townspeople to write a Sefer Torah in response to a pandemic in his village. They later called the new Torah the ‘Miracle Sefer Torah’.

In just five weeks, 304,805 Jews acquired a letter in the Torah, an unprecedented display of Jewish unity. A second Sefer Torah was soon underway, affording the opportunity to hundreds of thousands more Jews to purchase letter for their families.

The event will take place Sunday, Chof Kislev, December 6, 2020, 6:30 PM EST, and will feature the Torah completion ceremony and a live concert featuring singers Mordechai Ben David, Avraham Fried, and special guests.
