Girls Enjoy Interacting with Kosher Animals at School

In learning about kosher animals and their signs, Beis Chaya Mushka Girls School welcomed a petting zoo to its campus, offering students a unique, hands-on opportunity to interact with the animals and bring the parsha to life.

In honor of Parshas Shemini, Beis Chaya Mushka Girls School welcomed a petting zoo to its campus on the Wednesday after Pesach, offering students a unique, hands-on opportunity to bring the parsha to life.

Parshas Shemini outlines the Torah’s laws regarding kosher animals, including the signs that distinguish which animals may be eaten according to halacha. The school arranged the petting zoo so students could observe and interact with various animals that demonstrate these kosher characteristics.

Throughout the visit, students engaged directly with the animals, identifying features such as split hooves and signs of cud-chewing. They observed and interacted with chickens, ducks, goats, sheep, a cow, and also a non-kosher donkey to recognize an animal without the kosher signs.

The event was well received by students and staff alike, creating a joyful and educational atmosphere on campus. The experience served not only as a fun activity, but also as a valuable extension of the girls’ learning.
