Two new Sifrei Torah were welcomed on Sunday at a joyous double celebration in Bergen Beach, marking the dedication of the Torahs by local families, with the presence of rabbis from Crown Heights, Mill Basin, Georgetown, and Moscow, and a live musical performance.
This past Sunday, hundreds gathered in Bergen Beach, Brooklyn, for the dedication of two new Sifrei Torah at the newly established Chabad House in the center of the neighborhood.
The event was organized by Rabbi Menachem Mendel and Rebbetzin Sterny Weissberg, shluchim and directors of Chabad of Bergen Beach.
Distinguished rabbonim and shluchim honored the event with their presence: Rabbi Avrohom Holtzberg, shliach and director of Chabad of Georgetown; Rabbi Yirmiy Levi, mara d’asra of Chazon Ovadia in Mill Basin; Rabbi Shlomo Aharon Holtzberg, Rosh Kollel of Tiferes Zekeinim in Crown Heights; Rabbi Mordechai Weisberg, director of the Jewish Community of Moscow.
Rabbi Mendy Weissberg shared the bracha he received from the Rebbe after he offered a heartfelt tefilla at the Ohel, asking Hashem to help provide a Sefer Torah for the newly opened Chabad House. In a clear demonstration of hashgacha pratis, he was blessed with not one but two Sifrei Torah, both gifted by relatives of local families.
The first Sefer Torah was donated by Mike and Natalie Arje in memory of Tzvi ben Yaakov, Leah bas Rachel Arje, and Ruth bas Asher Peres.
The second Sefer Torah was dedicated by Nina Steigelfest, Eli and Jill Steigelfest, Suzy and Jason Arlick, and Michelle and Leeor Solomon, in memory of Yeshayahu ben Eliezer HaLevi Steigelfest.
The event was executed flawlessly, with a custom-built tent and full professional infrastructure. Special recognition goes to Mr. Ari Simkin, owner of the event site and director of Power Rental Yards, who generously contributed his resources and expertise.
