On Erev Shavuos, following a moving Bar Mitzva ceremony, a new Sefer Torah was completed and welcomed into the central Chabad shul in Berlin.

A festive parade let the completed Torah through Berlin’s streets, accompanied by lively music, spirited singing, and joyful dancing.

Rabbi Yehuda Teichtal, the city’s chief rabbi and head shliach, described the scene vividly: “Children, young people, and adults danced together with visible Jewish pride. Despite everything, the Torah is alive and enduring, and we live with it.”

In light of the sharp rise in antisemitism in Germany, Rabbi Teichtal emphasized: “The Torah is not just a spiritual anchor. It is our identity, the heart of our continuity. Specifically here, in Berlin, especially at this time, this is our answer: joy, light, and an unbreakable bond with our Jewish heritage.”

The parade was led by Rabbi Teichtal, shliach Rabbi Mendel Brandwein, and other local shluchim.

The Sefer Torah will be permanently housed at the Chabad Shul in Berlin’s Steglitz neighborhood, led by Rabbi Shmuel Segal. The Chabad House is one of seven active Chabad communities across the city, each serving as an increasingly vibrant source of spiritual, educational, and communal life.
