Arentine President and Hostage Family to Headline Rebbe Tribute
Live at 6:30 PM ET: Thousands to gather in Buenos Aires for a major pre-Gimmel Tammuz event featuring Argentine President Javier Milei, as well as freed hostage Yosef Chaim Ohana and his father Avi Ohana. An English livestream will be available on Anash.org.
Thousands are expected to gather Monday evening at the National Auditorium Palacio Libertad in Buenos Aires for a major pre-Gimmel Tammuz event titled “Tribute to the Rebbe: An Evening of Light and Legacy in Action.”
Organized by Chabad Argentina, the program will bring together community members, public figures, and guests from across the country to reflect on the Rebbe’s enduring impact. The evening will feature prominent speakers, personal testimonies, and a live broadcast for viewers around the world.
Among the featured speakers is Argentine President Javier Milei, whose connection to the Rebbe and Chabad has become well known. Milei made his first international trip as president-elect to visit the Rebbe’s Ohel in New York and has repeatedly spoken about the influence of Jewish values and the Rebbe’s teachings on his worldview.
Milei has participated in a number of Chabad events, including Chabad Argentina’s public Chanukah celebration shortly after taking office and the last two years’ tribute gatherings for Gimmel Tammuz, which he attended discreetly from a balcony without public announcement. He was also honored with the “Ambassador of Light” award at The Shul of Bal Harbor in South Florida.
Also addressing the gathering will be Yosef Chaim Ohana, who was kidnapped during the October 7 attacks and held hostage in Gaza for 738 days before his release. Joining him on stage will be his father, Avi Ohana, who became a prominent voice throughout the long campaign for his son’s return. Their appearance is expected to be one of the evening’s most emotional moments as they share their experiences of captivity, faith, and survival.
The event will also feature Rabbi Tzvi Grunblatt, longtime head shliach and director of Chabad Argentina, who has led the organization’s remarkable growth over the past five decades.
The program will conclude with a raffle for a dollar received from the Rebbe and a renewed call to carry the Rebbe’s legacy forward as Gimmel Tammuz approaches. Tickets for the event are available free of charge, and a live broadcast will be streamed in both Spanish and English for viewers worldwide.
