What They Take Home from Tishrei Won’t Fit in a Suitcase

In a few weeks, more than 1,500 Bochurim will pack their bags and return to Yeshivos around the world.

But the most important thing they bring home will not be inside their suitcases.

It will be the special energy from davening in 770, the Hiskashrus felt at the Ohel, the words of a Farbrengen that struck home, and a renewed sense of what it means to be a Tomim. That is the Tishrei they will carry into their learning, davening and daily lives throughout the year ahead.

Making that possible begins with something very practical.

A Bochur cannot fully immerse himself in Tishrei if he is worried about where he will sleep or where his next meal will come from. That is why the Vaad Hatmimim prepares 1,200 beds and provides more than 90,000 meals each Tishrei.

Those numbers are enormous. But behind each one is something simple: a Bochur with a proper place to sleep, a warm meal and the peace of mind to focus on why he came.

And that is only part of the picture.

The Vaad also organizes Sedorim, prepares special Kovtzei Limud and arranges Shiurim, panels and Farbrengens with Mashpiim. From the morning Seder until the late-night Farbrengen, the month is filled with opportunities for the Bochurim to learn, grow and strengthen their connection to the Rebbe.

This is what it means to stand behind a Bochur during Tishrei: to take care of what he needs today so that he can return to Yeshiva strengthened for the entire year.
