We Are Witnessing Miracles of Biblical Proportions

Before Israel’s preemptive strike on Iran, officials were warned to expect 800–4,000 casualties in just the first two nights. Yet something extraordinary happened – something of Biblical proportions. When we follow the Nasi HaDor’s directive, the Eibershter shows the unprecedented miracles we are seeing.

It’s easy to get swept up in the headlines, the political debates, and military briefings. But sometimes, we need to pause and look deeper – not just at what’s happening, but how it’s happening.

Since the horrific Simchas Torah massacre, Israel has been in an ongoing war. We’ve buried over 1,200 civilians, mourned more than 250 hostages taken into Gaza, and lost over 800 soldiers in the brutal battles that followed. The pain is still raw, and the losses are very real.

And yet, something extraordinary – something of Biblical proportions – has happened in recent days. When Iran launched its unprecedented direct missile attack on Israel, Israeli leaders feared the worst. In confidential briefings before Israel’s preemptive strike on Iran’s nuclear infrastructure, ministers were told to prepare for massive casualties. Military intelligence estimated that Iran’s retaliation could (r”l) kill between 800 and 4,000 Israelis within just the first two nights.

Then it happened: Iran fired hundreds of ballistic and cruise missiles – deadly, accurate weapons aimed directly at packed population centers, meant to kill a maximum number of men, women, and children and flatten infrastructure.

And yet — by clear, open miracles — nearly all of them were intercepted. With Hashem’s help and protection, Israel was spared. Yes, tragically, there were a few lives lost, Hashem yikom damam. And every Jewish soul is an entire world. But when compared to what was expected — what was feared — we are witnessing nothing short of miraculous.

As the Rebbe repeatedly stated, “Eretz asher einei Hashem Elokecha bah” — “the land of Israel is under the constant watch of Hashem.” This is not poetic. It’s literal. And what we’re seeing now is living proof.

But the miracle goes even deeper.

Before October 7th, Israel followed a path of hesitation. A left-leaning, progressive approach that prioritized world opinion over proactive defense. That tragic passivity cost us dearly.

Again and again, the Rebbe warned against this mindset. He emphasized the Torah’s clear directive: “הבא להרגך השכם להרגו” — if someone rises up to kill you, strike first. Not to passively look at these threats and be afraid of what the “world” will say, but to preemptively attack and eliminate any threats before they grow, and certainly once they’ve overgrown.

The Rebbe often pointed to the difference between the Six Day War and the Yom Kippur War. In 1967, Israel launched a preemptive strike despite fears of world reaction and saw clear, open miracles. The war lasted six days. But in 1973, despite knowing an attack was coming, Israel hesitated due to political pressure and fear of world opinion. The result was devastating losses. The decision was one that then–Prime Minister Golda Meir said she regretted until her last day.

Now, Israel is finally acting in line with the Rebbe’s vision: strong, clear action to prevent danger, not just respond to it. And when Israel acted this way, we saw — and are seeing — the results. Not in theories or diplomatic statements, but in the skies over Yerushalayim, over Tel Aviv, and across the country. Thousands of lives are being saved as we speak in real time, by a chain of unmistakable miracles.

Let us not take this lightly.

The Torah tells us of one war in which “ולא נפקד ממנו איש” — not a single soldier was lost. That was the war against Midian in the time of Moshe Rabbeinu. Even in the battles led by Dovid HaMelech, fought with the guidance of the urim v’tumim, there were casualties. What we are seeing today is a reflection of that rare Divine protection.

This is the time to realize that when we follow the directive of the Nasi HaDor, the Eibershter shows us open success and miraculous success. We are witnessing it now, with our own eyes.

This is the time to publicly thank Hashem for the miracles He is doing for His chosen people. And like the Rebbe said, “not to be embarrassed to dance in the streets” to express our gratitude and thank Hashem for His miracles.

And to realize that we are standing in extraordinary times, and these are just a small taste of the incredible miracles we are about to witness with the hisgalus of the Rebbe, teikef u’miyad mammash.
