Thirst for Tanya Draws Hundreds in Boro Park and Monsey
Hundreds of Chassidishe bochurim and yungeleit gathered this past week in Boro Park and Monsey for two gatherings celebrating the completion of a cycle of Tanya study and the beginning of a new one, organized by the Irgun Limud Hatanya.
Hundreds of Chassidishe bochurim and yungeleit gathered this past week in Boro Park and Monsey for two special gatherings celebrating the completion of a cycle of Tanya study and the beginning of a new one, organized by the Irgun Limud Hatanya.
The gatherings, called Tzama, brought together lomdim who have spent the past year studying the entire Sefer HaTanya in depth, taking comprehensive tests on the material and receiving stipends for their accomplishments. The events focused on the importance of in-depth learning and strengthening one’s connection to Chassidus by applying the Tanya’s teachings to daily avodas Hashem.
The programs opened with words of bracha from a prominent guest, the Amshinover Rebbe, Rabbi Menachem Kalish, who encouraged those studying the Tanya in depth to strengthen their commitment to learning and grow in their avodas Hashem.
A distinguished guest who traveled especially from Eretz Yisroel for the events, Rabbi Naftali Erlanger, mashpia at the Kol Dodi organization and one of the editors of the Yechidasi publication, addressed the participants and shared insights into the study of Tanya.
Rabbi Erlanger also participated in a question-and-answer session on avodas Hashem according to the Tanya, discussing the sefer’s teachings and how they can be applied to daily life.
Rabbi Asher Friedman, director of the Tanya Study Organization in Boro Park, presented details of the study program and the new cycle, encouraging participants to continue learning the Tanya in a structured and thorough manner.
In Monsey, the crowd was privileged to hear from the distinguished guest speaker, the Sanzer-Zhviller Rebbe, Rabbi Shaul Yehuda Prizant, who addressed the crowd with passionate words about learning Chassidus.
One segment of the gatherings, titled Tzama Nafshi Le’lokim, featured niggunim of the Alter Rebbe accompanied by musical instruments, adding an atmosphere of Chassidishe warmth and connection to the teachings of Chassidus.
“It was amazing to see so many bochurim and yungeleit who are truly passionate about learning Tanya,” Rabbi Yoel Napartsak, organizer of the Irgun Limud Hatanya, told Anash.org. “They’re putting time and effort into understanding Chassidus and are very serious about strengthening their avodas Hashem.”
During the events, attendees were able to register for the new study cycle. A special program called Ta’amu U’Re’u was also introduced for younger bochurim in yeshivah ketanah, offering a structured framework for Tanya study, with tests and prizes to encourage their participation.
To help new members begin their studies, copies of Tanya Mevo’ar, containing explanations of the Tanya, were offered for just $5.
The gatherings celebrated the completion of the Tanya study cycle while encouraging more bochurim and yungeleit to join the next cycle and deepen their understanding of the sefer, bringing the teachings of Chassidus into their daily lives.
