Students in Nebraska, South Korea and Beyond Begin School Together

Sarah from Nebraska, Jacob from South Korea, and Hannah from Texas joined 300 children from around the world as they were welcomed on the first day of the Nigri Jewish Online School of the Shluchim Office.

The first day of school looked a little different than it does for most children. Thanks to the Nigri Jewish Online School, they were able to begin their school year from thousands of miles away, learning alongside Jewish children from around the world.

The Jewish Online School, sister school of the Shluchim Online School, is for all Jewish children from all walks of life. Whether already Frum or just starting to learn about Yiddishkeit, they can choose between day school, evening school, Hebrew school, conversational Hebrew, Bar/Bas Mitzvah lessons or private tutoring options.

“It’s so beautiful to see children from Norway, Germany, Dubai and Japan learning together in one classroom,” said Principal Mrs. Chanie Hertzel. “We are so grateful to our incredible teachers and staff, with special thanks to our Day School Education director, Morah Rochel Abrams and our After School & Hebrew school coordinator, Morah Noa Miriam Truxton.”

For families like the Sarah’s, Jacob’s and Hannah’s, living far from a Jewish school does not have to mean being far from a Jewish education. The first day of school marks the beginning of a year full of learning, growth and friendships for the hundreds of students who live all across the globe.

“Although they learn online, the real connections fostered amongst classmates and teachers are so impactful and inspiring.” shared Yeshiva Coordinator Rabbi Yitzchok Jacobs. “The staff’s dedication, care and commitment to every child’s education and personal success has made our year start on such an incredible note.”
