Moscow’s Marina Roscha Awakens for First Selichos

The atmosphere of Elul and the approaching Yomim Nora’im was felt strongly at the central Marina Roscha Synagogue in the heart of Moscow, as a large crowd gathered on Motzaei Shabbos for the first Selichos.

The evening began several hours earlier with a soulful Chassidic farbrengen, as participants prepared for Selichos with words of inspiration, niggunim, and resolutions for the new year.

At midnight, Rabbi Elazar Mordechai Koenig approached the amud and led the Selichos in a stirring voice. The packed sanctuary joined in the traditional melodies, creating an atmosphere of heartfelt awakening and preparation for Rosh Hashanah.
