Single Dose Johnson & Johnson Vaccine Approved for Use

The Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine, which works with just one dose instead of two, was approved for use in the USA this week. The company will be sending out millions of doses in the coming weeks.

The Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine, was approved for use in the USA this week, making it the third vaccine approved for use in the USA.

Unlike the previously approved Moderna and Pfizer vaccines, which require two doses, the Johnson & Johnson vaccine only requires one. While less effective than the other vaccines, the newer vaccine provides high protection against serious illness, hospitalizations and death.

Doses of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine are expected to begin shipping on Monday, and the company says that 20 million doses will then be available by the end of March in the U.S., followed by 100 million by the summer.
