Seforim Sales in 770 to Begin Thursday Afternoon

The seforim stands in 770, which offer seforim for a discounted price over Hey Teves, will only be opening on Thursday afternoon this year, not on the evening of Hey Teves as previously.

In previous years, tables would be set up with seforim at a discounted price from the start of Hey Teves until its end. Hundreds would take the opportunity and purchase from the stands, which offered sales and books not to be found in the ‘regular’ stores.

Among the seforim offered are the new set of Sichos Kodesh, retyped and with copious footnotes.

This year, the stands will only be open for half the time, starting on Thursday, Hey Teves at 12:00 PM until Friday, Vov Teves at 6:00 AM.

The decision was made by the gabboim of 770 following complaints by the regular mispalelim in the morning minyanim, who were displaced every year as the tables filled with seforim took over the shul.

Update: The sales will be held in the lobby starting Wednesday night, and will move into the main shul on Thursday afternoon.
