The Satmar Rebbe, Harav Aaron Teitelbaum, was presented with a set of seforim containing the Rebbe’s teachings by Russia’s Chief Rabbi Berel Lazar during a visit on Sunday.
The visit to the Satmar Rebbe’s home took place as part of Rabbi Lazar’s tour of Kiryas Yoel, where the Chief Rabbi was shown the local the meat processing plant, the Cheder and a center for new mothers, accompanied the entire time by the Satmar Rebbe.
Following the tour of the local community institutions, Rabbi Lazar paid a visit to the Satmer Rebbe in his private home. During the meeting Rabbi Lazar gifted his host with a set of Toras Menachem – Tiferes Levi Yitzchak, the five volumes set of the Rebbe’s explanations on his father’s teachings. Rabbi Lazar told the Satmar Rebbe how Harav Levi Yitzchok managed to write chidushei Torah even while in exile, transcribing them on the margins of the few seforim he had.
The visit to the Satmar Rebbe’s home, as well as the entire visit to Kiryas Yoel, was arranged by Rabbi Zalman Leib Markowitz, a leading Chabad mechanech and mentor, who had grown up in the Satmar community and had attended the Satmar yeshiva where Rabbi Aaron Teitelbaum was the Rosh Yeshiva.
