Just weeks after the Crown Heights Armory was filled with shluchim, it was once again filled with a sea of black hats, but this time it was thousands of Satmar chassidim celebrating.

The celebration was being held to mark the 21st of Kislev, the anniversary of when Reb Yoel of Satmar was saved from the Nazis. Every year on that date, Satmar chassidim hold celebrations, with the two main celebrations, that of the chassidim of the Satmar Rebbe Reb Aharon, and that of the chassidim of the Satmar Rebbe Reb Zalman Leib, both taking place in New York.

This year, the Satmar faction of Reb Zalman Leib held their celebration in the Crown Heights Armory, on the border of the Crown Heights community and in close proximity to Williamsburg. Thousands of Satmar chassidim packed the Armory, which had been decorated for the occasion.

Among the crowd were also a number of Lubavitcher faces, including Rabbi Hershel Lustig, menahel in Oholei Torah, Rabbi Moshe Winner, and a number of others.

As the event continued, tens of Satmar chassidim also took the opportunity to visit 770, which is within walking distance of the Armory.
