Reb Yishay Kalachy, a resident of Crown Heights and devoted chossid who made a positive impact on many Chabad communities including Kfar Chabad and Postville, Iowa, passed away on Friday, 7 Tishrei 5781.
Reb Yishay Kalachy, a resident of Crown Heights and devoted chossid who made a positive impact on many Chabad communities including Kfar Chabad and Postville, Iowa, passed away on Friday ,7 Tishrei 5781.
He was 69 years old.
Born to Reb Tzalach and Chatun Kalachy he made his way to Eretz Yisroel where he studied under the tutelage of Reb Chaim Shaul Bruk, and was close with Reb Zushe Partizan and to Reb Shlomo Chaim Kesselman.
Where ever Reb Yishai lived, he was an unwavering source of inspiration and a beacon of light to all those around him. As a shining example for limud HaTorah and kiyum hamitzvos b’hidur he left his mark in Kfar Chabad and on the Postville community.
R’ Yishai was loved by all, and an embodiment of Chassidus teachings and a life of Torah.
In recent years he lived in Crown Heights. He was very involved in Crown Heights shuls Bnei Shlomo Zalman – ‘Frankel shul’ and Kehilas ‘Anshei Moshe’
He is survived by his wife Iris Kalachy and children: Esti Forta – Aventura, Florida, David Kalachy – Kfar Chabad, EY, Shevi Biton – Crown Heights, Yossi Kalachy – Hallandale, Florida, Chani Kalachy – Crown Heights, Shmulik Kalachy – Crown Heights, and grandchildren.
The Levaya will take place today, passing 770 at 1:00 PM.
The family will be sitting Shiva at 690 Midwood St.

Motzei Shabbos an hour after Shabbos
Sunday starting at 9 Am
