With the coronavirus pandemic still raging, it seemed that the annual Purim mivtzoim to old age homes in New York would not take place this year.
But thanks to the dedicated efforts of Rabbi Menachem Gerlitzky of Kollel Tiferes Zkeinim Levi Yitzchok, close to eighty old age homes have given their permission to have visitors comes and read the Megillah.
The only condition set by the nursing homes is for visitors to receive a negative covid test before their visit. A rapid test or a pcr test both work.
Organizers say they are in desperate need of volunteers to take some time on Purim and share the Yom Tov with others, as the Rebbe strongly requested and encouraged. Especially needed are people who can read the Megillah, or have a Megillah that can be used.
Over 3,000 shaloch manos have also been prepared for distribution, and will be given out to volunteers to give out on mivtzoim.
If you are able to volunteer, or if you have a Megillah that can be used for mivtzoim, please call Rabbi Gerlitzky ASAP at 917-865-7425.
A freilichen Purim!
