For the first time, a comprehensive curriculum dedicated to the study of tznius in dress is being introduced in Lubavitch girls’ schools worldwide.

“Tznius: It’s Not Just a Word, It’s You” masterfully weaves together many facets of the subject, from nigla to Chassidus and hashkafa, all presented in a modern, visually engaging format designed for junior high girls.

The publisher began developing the curriculum after recognizing a growing need, prompted by questions and comments his oldest daughter was bringing home from school. It became clear that students needed a work that would take them on a journey through the development of the subject, beginning with Tanach, continuing through the Talmud and Shulchan Aruch, and concluding with contemporary poskim.

Students today do not want merely to be told what to do; they want to understand. Like every area of Torah, tznius possesses a rich history and depth of scholarship. Students deserve the opportunity to appreciate both the practical halachos and the sources from which they emerge.

Students will also get a glimpse into the many sources behind the halachos they learn, presented in end-of-chapter halachah summary charts. They will also get to know a bit about the lives of some of the major poskim behind the halachos through short biographies presented there.

The curriculum also features special ‘Style Points’ boxes that incorporate Chassidus, Midrashim, stories from Chazal and the Rebbeim, and other inspiring material that illuminate the beauty and meaning behind the subject.

Each chapter concludes with thought-provoking questions and space for journaling, along with exercises to help internalize what the student has learned. Multiple-choice tests are also included to test the student’s knowledge.

The curriculum has received enthusiastic haskamos from rabbonim including Dayan Levi Yitzchok Raskin of London, Harav Gedalya Oberlander of Kingston, PA, and Rabbi Tuvia Kasimov of Crown Heights.

Junior high principals in Crown Heights have likewise expressed enthusiasm about introducing the curriculum in the coming school year. They note that no comparable curriculum has previously been available and believe its comprehensive approach, rich in both scholarship and inner meaning, is just what the hour calls for.
