London Bochurim Enjoyed Uplifting Trip to Jewish Budapest
A group of London yeshiva bochurim spent a trip in Budapest, visiting historic Jewish sites, guided tours of historic shuls, and engaging in learning and farbrengens with the local shluchim.
Last week, a large group of bochurim from a London yeshiva enjoyed a trip to Budapest, Hungary, packed with shiurim, farbrengens, and visits to historic Jewish sites.
The trip included a day at the Chabad resort near the famous Lake Balaton. This was followed by visits to historic shuls across Budapest, many of which today operate under the local shluchim of the Rebbe in Hungary.
The group also toured additional Jewish heritage sites throughout the city, gaining a deeper appreciation of its rich and layered history.
A highlight of the trip was time spent at several historic locations with a strong Jewish past, where the bochurim stood with arms around each other and sang slow niggunim. The singing drew the attention of passersby – a reminder of the past Jewish life in the city.
The group was guided by Rabbi Yakov Blesofsky, son-in-law of shliach Rabbi Shlomo Kovesh, who led them through key historical and Jewish heritage landmarks.
The itinerary was carefully structured by the yeshiva’s shluchim, with Rabbi Gedalia Hertz joining from the hanholoh of the yeshiva for parts of the program.
Throughout the trip, bochurim learned in chavrusa and continued their studies during bus rides between sites.
For Mincha, the bochurim visited Rabbi Shmuel Glitzenstein, who also hosted them for a meal.
At the end of the day, they participated in a warm farbrengen with chief rabbi and head shliach, Rabbi Boruch Overlander.
