Camp L’man Achai’s teen division recently held its annual Skiing Shabbaton in Upstate New York. Teens from various states and countries joined together for a meaningful Shabbos followed by a skiing trip on Sunday.
Upon arrival, campers and counselors warmly greeted each other with excitement. Refreshments, including Kugal, were served, bringing everyone back into the camp feeling.
Shabbos began with a beautiful davening and Kabolos Shabbos filled with familiar camp songs, creating a warm and nostalgic atmosphere. A passerby felt the need to comment on the incredible vibe and expressed interest in joining next summer.
The Shabbos meal was filled with delicious food and lively conversation. Joining back together made everyone feel as if they never left.
Each boy shared something meaningful to them about the Rebbe. Staff shared the meaning of Yud Shvat. After the meal, campers and staff grouped for Farbrengens, followed by board games and fun. Shabbos ended with a beautiful Havdalah ceremony followed by a delicious Melaveh Malka.
Early Sunday morning, the boys headed to Hunter Mountain for skiing and snowboarding, with staff members eagerly assisting those new to these activities. The boys left with an awakened commitment to grow in their Yidishkeit taking on Hachlatos and feeling a great sense of pride.
Rabbi Yitzchok Steinmetz, Camp Director of L’man Achai, expressed his amazement at the impact of the Shabbaton. “The amount of feedback I received after this weekend was incredible—so many boys shared their excitement and their eagerness to return. It truly speaks to the powerful experience they had.”
A special thanks go to Mendy Samuel for masterminding the weekend. Thank you to Yoni Shakarov and Jeremy Schmidt for cooking and preparing all the delicious food.
