In recent years, as many parents have embraced the study of Chabad Chassidus, their children were missing out. “Lichtelach” was established, providing nearly 300 children across Eretz Yisroel with structured learning, farbrengens, and exciting programs that instill the children with Chassidus and its values.

Three years ago, under the leadership of Merkaz Mayonei Yisroel, the “Lichtelach” organization was founded with a clear mission: to instill the teachings and ways of Chassidus in young children of families that have come close to Chassidus Chabad.
In recent years, the number of chassidim embracing the study of Chabad Chassidus is astonishing. But while the fathers of these families were immersing themselves in the light of Chassidus and enjoying the many farbrengens, shiurim and other important events, their children—attending mainstream educational institutions—were missing out on this crucial foundation.
“Lichtelach” was established to bridge this gap, providing a structured program to inspire the children in the path of Chassidus and its values. What began as a small initiative has rapidly expanded, now serving nearly 300 children in cities across Eretz Yisroel, including Yerushalayim, Beit Shemesh, Beitar, Ashdod, Haifa, Bnei Brak, and Modiin Illit.
At the heart of the program is a weekly gathering in local branches, where children learn Chassidus, and engage in various activities including farbrengens on special days. On Shabbos, they meet together at the Mayonei Yisroel shuls across Eretz Yisroel to daven, learn, say pesukim and Tehillim as a group.
Lichtelach also hosts three major national gatherings each year—Yud Tes Kislev, Shavuos, and Tishrei—bringing together all participants for an uplifting experience that usually concludes with the excited children encouraging their friends to join in the programs as well. Additionally, during bein hazmanim, the children enjoy organized trips and bonding activities.
This past year, Lichtelach saw remarkable growth, with an influx of new members and the launch of new impactful initiatives.
One highlight has been the Derech HaChassidim study booklets, a beautifully designed and engaging curriculum that presents Chassidic fundamentals in a clear and relatable way. Topics include emunah, hiskashrus, Moshiach, farbrengen, the nefesh ha’elokis and nefesh habehamis, avodas hatefilah, and the role of a chossid. The booklets have sparked enthusiasm among the children, giving them a true taste of authentic Chassidus.
Building on this success, Lichtelach introduced a special children’s adaptation of the Basi Legani maamar for Yud Shevat. This groundbreaking initiative presented the maamar in an engaging format, complete with stories, mesholim, explanations, and even takeaway missions. It was so well received that even older individuals found themselves drawn to its clear and inspiring content.
Lichtelach is now working on publishing a special book on the meaning of tefillah and its explanations, together with an album and collectible stickers on the topic. A monthly newsletter will also be launched to connect all participating children.
Lichtelach operates entirely through the support of Merkaz Mayonei Yisroel and is led by a dedicated team, including R’ Yermiah Gross, R’ Chaim Yehuda Lefkowitz, R’ Yisroel Moshe Schwartz, R’ Aryeh Malach, and R’ Yisroel Klein. Their tireless efforts ensure the program continues to grow, inspiring the next generation with the teachings and values of Chassidus.
