Following the notice on the closure of Kingston Avenue between President Street and Eastern Parkway for three months this summer, the Vaad Hakohol has released specific updates and the plan to complete the construction before Tishrei.
The Crown Heights Jewish Community Council (CHJCC) would like to update the community regarding upcoming city-led construction work:
President Street
Construction between Kingston and Albany Avenues is scheduled to conclude by June 20th.
Kingston Avenue
Sewer replacement work will begin June 23rd, starting at Eastern Parkway and progressing toward President Street. Work is expected to be completed by September 15th, ahead of the Tishrei Yomim Tovim.
Final repaving and restoration of Kingston Avenue is scheduled to take place after Yom Tov.
Extended Work Hours
Work will be conducted during the following extended hours:
- Monday through Friday: 7:00 AM – 6:00 PM
- Saturday: 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM
Traffic Restrictions
During construction, streets will be closed to through traffic during working hours. Emergency vehicles and local deliveries will still be allowed access. A single lane will reopen each evening after work concludes.

not oing evn come close to finishing on time keeping to a schedule etc On President street they never did still haven’t come close o finishing despite the alleged end ate beig tomorrow no work has been done for over a month they don’t care! there will be 1000 excuses why despite the otherwise empty promises work will be done FRidays when they decide to work.When Tishrei rolls around they won’t even be close to finishing we will be lucky if they finish by Chanukah & street paving happens by Purim if not Pesach. JUly & August are vactaion months very little will be done if anything! watch & see
