Iran Fires Missiles at Israel, Watches for Israeli Response

In a breaking news development, Iran fired three waves of missiles Sunday afternoon at civilians in northern Israel, according to multiple reports circulating throughout the afternoon. Air defense systems were activated, and so far there have been no confirmed reports of injuries or impacts, with interceptions reported across multiple waves.

Schools were cancelled across Israel for the following day, alongside additional precautionary restrictions, as authorities prepared for the possibility of further escalation. Reports also indicate that officials are considering closing Ben Gurion Airport temporarily, though no decision has been confirmed.

The incident comes amid weeks of heightened tension tied to deteriorating negotiations involving Hezbollah in Lebanon. Hezbollah began firing rockets at Israeli civilians several months ago, and despite multiple opportunities for a ceasefire, the launches have continued intermittently.

In response, Israel warned that continued fire at civilian areas would trigger strikes on Hezbollah targets in Beirut. Iran had reportedly cautioned against such escalation. When public pressure caused Israel to refrain, Hezbollah took that as a signal and continued launching rockets toward northern Israeli communities.

Earlier today, the Israel Defense Forces carried out what was described as a limited, symbolic strike against a Hezbollah command center in the Dahiyeh district of Beirut, framed by Israeli officials as a response meant to reinforce deterrence.

Shortly afterward, reports emerged of Iranian missile fire toward northern Israel, which some analysts and commentators are describing as a possible escalation test of Israel’s response threshold.

Reportedly, U.S. President Donald Trump told journalist Barak Ravid he would call Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu and urge restraint regarding potential strikes on Iran.

President Trump also told Channel 12 that no one was hurt in the Iranian missile attack and warned that if Netanyahu responds, “this will continue and continue.” Trump said the sides are “very close to a deal” to end the war and added: “I don’t want this to derail the agreement. Both sides have attacked, and I don’t want to see another attack.”

Speaking to Kan News, Trump added: “I think Israel has responded enough. There doesn’t need to be any more. We can achieve peace after 3,000 years.”

“If there is no response, now it means a new equation whose purpose is to allow Hezbollah to continue making life difficult for residents of the north, based on the belief that the United States will act to restrain Israel,” Israel’s foremost journalist Amit Segal said.

Separately, messages attributed to a senior adviser to Iran’s supreme leader warned that “any new action will be met with a stronger response.”

Throughout the day, repeated sirens were reported across northern Israel, with multiple interception waves seen over the Galilee region and additional alerts extending into other areas. In parallel, reports indicated disruptions to civilian life, including the suspension of a high-profile basketball game due to security alerts.
