Following Michigan Governer’s orders of mandated school closing, the Lubavitch Mesivta and Yeshiva in Detroit will be closing as of Sunday for an early ‘Pesach break’.
In an email sent to the parents the Hanhala informed of the mandatory closing. “We are pained to announce that the Mesivta’s physical facility will be closed until we are able to open once again.”
“Given the uncertainty surrounding airline travel and availability, talmidim may return home beginning on Sunday morning.” the letter said.
We will do everything within our ability to minimize the disruption through efforts to arrange online learning, etc. as soon as possible, as well as helping to arrange clusters of learning between bochurim who are geographically close (where allowed).
“During the talmidim’s remaining time in Yeshiva, we will encourage and facilitate setting up chavrusos for their daily learning.”
The letter goes on to encourage parents not to allow their children unsupervised time on the internet while at home and to utilize their time.
“Please take the time to revisit whether there are absolute safeguards to eliminate unsupervised internet access in your home and mosad; take the time to help your son arrange a regiment for tfilla betzibur, kvius for learning, mivtzoim; many of the bochurim are deeply engaged in hachonos for Yud Alef Nissan and will need your encouragement, etc.”
“While we will do everything in our power to arrange as full a schedule as possible, it is no replacement for the oversight and immersion that being in a physical mosad can give. This will definitely need much more of your time and attention than previously.” they said.
