As Lubavitch schools in Crown Heights and other cities close their doors, schools in Los Angeles are taking the same step. Chabad Schools in Los Angeles, Cheder Menachem of LA boys school, Bais Chaya Mushka girls school, and Yeshiva Ohr Elchanan Chabad will be closing on Sunday until a further announcement.

In a letter sent out to parents, the heads of the school write they “have not been notified of any cases in the community” and are taking the step “as a precaution to keep the vulnerable members of our community safe.”

A letter signed by Rosh Yeshiva Harav Ezra Schochet and Rabbis Amram Farkash, Dovid Thaler and C. Perkowski was sent to the Yeshiva parent body, and similar letters sent to parents of children in local schools.

“We will remain in constant communication with the Medical consultants and Rabbonim to determine when it is deemed appropriate to reopen,” the letter states.

Each school will have a staff meeting on Sunday to plan alternative learning options for the students.
