‘Conquer Australia Through Torah’: Talmidim Hashluchim Gather in Sydney

Talmidim Hashluchim from across Australia came together this past weekend in Sydney for a Kinus marked by achdus, inspiration, and renewed chayus in their shlichus.

Talmidim Hashluchim from across Australia came together this past weekend in Sydney for a Kinus marked by achdus, inspiration, and renewed chayus in their shlichus.

The kinus began on Friday with participants arriving from across Australia and gathering for a series of workshops led by Rabbi Aron Moss, Rabbi Aaron Groner, and Yaakov Tetleroyd. They addressed practical and meaningful aspects of shlichus, providing guidance and inspiration for the young shluchim in their work throughout the year, emphasizing the special responsibility of the bochurim to “איינעמען אוסטרליא דורך לימוד התורה — Conquer Australia through limud haTorah” as directed by the Rebbe.

Following the workshops, the shluchim traveled to Bondi Beach, where they visited the site of the tragic antisemitic attack that took place during Chanukah. There, they sang and danced with Jewish pride, demonstrating the unity and strength of Jews across Australia.

At the site, the bochurim began the printing of a special Tanya. The Tanya printing transformed a place associated with darkness into one filled with Torah and light, serving as a powerful expression of the Rebbe’s approach of responding to darkness by increasing holiness and spreading the wellsprings of Chassidus.

The bochurim then spread out across Sydney on mivtzoim before returning to prepare for Shabbos.

Shabbos was graciously hosted by Rabbi and Rebbetzin Schapiro at Chabad of North Shore. Throughout the day, the bochurim joined together for uplifting tefillos, lively seudos, and chassidisher farbrengens, strengthening their shared mission as Talmidim Hashluchim.

And much appreciation goes to Rabbi Yehoram Uhlman of Chabad of Bondi for hosting the workshops and banquet.

Following Shabbos, the group gathered at Chabad of Bondi for a Melava Malka featuring words of inspiration from Rabbi Pinchus Feldman, Rabbi Levi Wolff, and Yacov Harkam. The evening continued with a spirited farbrengen that carried on late into the night.

Participating in the Kinus were Talmidim Hashluchim from Yeshivah Gedolah Melbourne (YG), Cheder Levi Yitzchok Melbourne, Yeshiva College Sydney (YC), Yeshivas Levi Yitzchok (YLY), JEMS, and Chabad North Shore, bringing together young shluchim serving in schools, yeshivos, and community institutions across Australia.

The kinus was made possible through the dedicated efforts of Nochum Brummel and the other YLY Shluchim, whose efforts helped create a meaningful and successful Kinus for the Talmidim Hashluchim of Australia.

Shluchim left the weekend energized and inspired, with a renewed sense of purpose, strengthened bonds of achdus, and fresh chayus to complete their shlichus throughout Australia.
