Chicago Gears up for Massive Lag BaOmer Concert
Chicago’s Jewish community is gearing up for its annual Lag B’Omer festival, a cornerstone event since 1978, featuring rides, inflatable attractions, a large adventure zone, a food court, and carnival booths. The highlight will be a live performance by Benny Friedman with band led by Gershon Freishtat.
Chicago’s Jewish community is preparing for one of its largest annual events as the Lag B’Omer Festival returns in full force, with an expanded program and major entertainment.
The event, which traces its roots back to 1978 when it was founded by Head Shliach Rabbi Daniel Moscowitz a”h, has grown into a cornerstone of Chicago’s Jewish calendar, drawing families from across the region year after year.
Rabbi Yosef Moscowitz, executive director of Lubavitch Chabad of Illinois, together with a dedicated group of shluchim, has been working to elevate this year’s festival, themed “Am Yisrael Chai Celebration.”
The festival will feature a full lineup of attractions for all ages, including rides, inflatable bounce castles, and a large adventure zone. A grand food court and all-you-can-eat kosher BBQ will be available, alongside a wide range of booths and carnival-style activities.
The highlight of the evening will be a live performance by Benny Friedman, joined by his band under the direction of Gershon Freishtat.
In honor of 50 years since the Rebbe launched the Yud-Beis Pesukim campaign, students of Lubavitch Girls High School are preparing an elaborate and interactive exhibition featuring the Pesukim.
Organizers say the goal is simple: To bring together Yidden from across the Chicago area for an evening of simcha, achdus, and Jewish pride.
“The purpose of this event is to bring all kinds of Yidden together from across the Chicago metropolitan area,” organizers said. “Come with your friends, or come and make new ones.”
