A bochur from the kvutza currently learning in 770 sustained light injuries this afternoon in a car accident on Brooklyn Avenue and Eastern Parkway, down the street from 770.

The accident occurred at approximately 1:00 p.m. and involved a red pickup truck and a black SUV. The SUV sustained heavy damage to its front end, with its bumper torn open, while the pickup truck’s front tire came off in the collision and its driver’s side door was left hanging open.

FDNY, EMS, NYPD, Hatzalah, and Shmira all responded to the scene within minutes. A Hatzalah ambulance was parked at the intersection, and a trauma bag was set up on the corner as Hatzalah members and EMS worked at the scene. NYPD officers directed traffic and secured the intersection while a crowd of bystanders gathered on the corner to watch.

Two people were transported to a nearby hospital for further evaluation, including the bochur. Baruch Hashem, it appears he sustained only light injuries, and he is reported to be expected to be fine.

With Crown Heights filling up again as the summer winds down and yeshivos and schools resume their regular schedules, the accident serves as a timely reminder for drivers and pedestrians alike to exercise extra caution on the neighborhood’s busy streets and intersections.
