‘A Chassidisher Derher’ Celebrating One Decade

This month, ten years ago, a modest 4-page newsletter was first emailed to bochurim shluchim in yeshivos around the globe. The first-ever Derher rolled off the printers. Fast forward ten years and the landscape of Chabad education has been irreversibly impacted.

This month, ten years ago, a modest 4-page newsletter was first emailed to talmidim-hashluchim in yeshivos around the globe. The first-ever Derher rolled off the printers.

Fast forward ten years and the landscape of Chabad education has been irreversibly impacted.

The only resource of its kind, A Chassidisher Derher magazine serves as a medium for our own community, transmitting the eternal values and teachings of our Rabbeim in an attractive, easy-to-read form, bound to inspire generations of readers—young and old alike.

As this young mother from Crown Heights put it:

“What I appreciate most about this magazine is the pure sincerity. Boruch Hashem, as a busy mother I can’t always be so involved in ruchniyus. Other magazines and articles often give me a feeling of inadequacy, they leave me feeling guilty for not being so involved in ruchniyus. Derher is the only magazine that I can pick up knowing that it will uplift and encourage me without making me feel guilty in any way. It so beautifully gives over the pure truth of the Rebbe without having a sanctimonious feel. It gives me the push to do what the Rebbe wants at this stage of my life…”

But the feedback that makes the Derher team most proud is when they learn of how readers have been prompted to take real action as a result of the Derher.

Like the woman who cut out a “Shir Hamaalos” from a Derher article about early childhood education, placing it safely with her daughter for a safe and healthy childbirth. Or the shluchah in a Western European Jewish community who started to visit the local Jewish schools after reading an article about the Rebbe’s insistence that every Jewish child have a letter in one of the communal Sifrei Torah.

It is moments like these that demonstrate the critical role the Derher plays in our community, and how vital it is that their work should continue and expand to reach new fronts.

In order to ensure exceptional quality and the highest educational standard possible, every single Derher magazine employs the talent and grit of tens of dedicated staff members, from research and development to writing and editing. From design and image selection, to publication and subscription management. Every step is carefully overseen to the finest detail, in order to provide a seamless customer experience.

In maintaining the purity of being a “chinuch” institution only, the Derher does not run any advertisements and relies solely on the generosity of friends and philanthropists to sustain this vital work.

Derher is launching its annual raffle campaign.

Please take this opportunity to give back to the medium that has inspired you and so many others, and allow that inspiration to carry even further.
