3000 Visitors Experience Drive-Thru Chanukah Story

Thousands of people attended a Drive-Thru Chanukah Experience organized by Chabad Centers in Montgomery County, with multiple actors, illustrations and props bringing the Chanukah story to life.

Over 600 cars bearing almost 3000 people visited Maryland’s Drive-Thru Chanukah Experience, created by Chabad Centers in Montgomery County and DC Party Box.

From the safety of their cars, families literally drove through the Chanukah story as multiple illustrations, props and actors brought the 2500-year-old Chanukah story to life.

Guided by a professionally created soundtrack, they experienced the Chanukah events in real-time. Participants met [at a distance] the Chanukah characters and picked up souvenirs and treats as they moved through the Chanukah story.

Chanukah is usually Chabad’s busiest time of year, Rabbi Sholom Raichik, shliach to Upper Montgomery County told the Washington Jewish Week. “This year, especially, people are looking for something to do that is COVID safe. And we’re providing that opportunity.”

The epic backdrops and graphics were kindly made available by the author of the popular book, “If the Chanukah Candles Could Speak”, Dassie Prus!
