Hostages:

There’s a lot of talk of a possible hostage-ceasefire deal coming up. On Friday night, U.S. President Trump told media that he thinks a ceasefire can be achieved in the coming week.

There are still significant gaps between Hamas’s demands, and Israel’s needs.

According to Israel’s goals, any ceasefire deal must include disarming Hamas, removing them from power, and exiling any surviving senior members from Gaza.

Gaza:

In a meeting with senior IDF command, IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir said that the IDF will soon reach the lines defined for the current phase of the war in Gaza–the capture of 75% of Gaza.

This 75% will include the entire Rafah, almost all of Khan Younis, most of Gaza City, and everything north of it. What remains is mostly central Gaza, especially along the coast. This includes the Nuseirat and Deir al-Balah area, where most of the hostages are thought to be held (the IDF knows where the hostages are, but won’t publicly confirm).

The 75% is not just being conquered, but is methodically being ground into rubble, so that Hamas can no longer use the area at all—not to find their hidden weapons, rockets, or tunnels.

According to Chanel 12, the IDF is now preparing for two scenarios, depending on whether a hostage-ceasefire deal is made, or not. If a deal is not made, the IDF will be prepared to direct more forces to advance further into the remaining 25% of Gaza.

Hamas still has a few rockets left, but does a terrible job at firing them. Today they fired one into empty fields on Israel’s side of the border. The IDF intercepted it, in case people were in the area.

The terror group has largely lost support amongst Gazans—not because of their terrorism, but because of the ensuing destruction of Gaza. While family clans, like the Barbah clan and Abu Shabab’s militia are rising up to fight against Hamas, Hamas still maintains a level of control, through groups of armed terrorists who kidnap, torture, and kill people who speak up against them.

Last night, the IDF eliminated one of the founders of Hamas, who was also one of the planners of the October 7th attack: Hakem al-Issa.

Al-Issa, served as chief of staff at the “combat and administrative support division” of Hamas’s military wing. He was eliminated in the Sabra neighborhood of Gaza City. In recent days, al-Issa served as Hamas’s head of combat support, advancing terror plans from the air and sea against Israeli civilians and IDF troops operating in the Gaza Strip.

He was one of the last living senior Hamas terrorists in Gaza, who held a high position before October 7th.

IDF troops (finally) destroyed a kilometer long tunnel in Beit Hanoun, which had been used by Hamas terrorists to kill four IDF soldiers in July of 2014.

Humanitarian Aid:

The Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF) distributed nearly two million meals to civilians in southern and central Gaza today.

The GHF issued an urgent statement today: “We are aware of credible reports that Hamas is openly targeting the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation and those who work with us. According to these reports, Hamas has placed bounties on both our American security personnel and Palestinian aid workers, offering cash rewards to anyone who injures or kills them. In recent days, Hamas has also pre-positioned armed operatives near humanitarian zones in an effort to disrupt the only functioning aid delivery system in Gaza.”

Hamas’s last hold of power over Gaza, and their last income, was the humanitarian aid delivered in Gaza. The UN and other humanitarian aid groups allowed Hamas to hijack aid, and either tax it or sell it at exorbitant prices (they got it for free). Hamas would also withhold aid in order to create artificial famine in Gaza, amongst non-Hamas members. The GHF cuts Hamas out, and distributes aid for free, thus breaking down Hamas’s power. Hamas is now trying to get rid of the GHF.

Hamas already killed twelve Gazan GHF staff members, and tortured others. However, Gazan aid workers continue to show up in defiance of Hamas. Civilians appreciate the free food, and openly thank the American workers, and shout chants of gratitude to Trump.

The UN has so far refused to cooperate with the GHF, and has gone as far as to cut off communication with aid groups who do. They have not commented at all on Hamas’s killing of GHF aid workers.

Iran:

Defense Minister Israel Katz announced that he instructed the IDF to prepare an enforcement plan against Iran that includes:

  • maintaining Israel’s air superiority
  • preventing nuclear advancement and missile production
  • responding to Iran’s support for terrorist activities against Israel.

Katz said that Israel “will act consistently to thwart such threats,” and adds: “I suggest the toothless snake-head in Tehran understand and beware: Operation Rising Lion was just the trailer for a new Israeli policy — after October 7, immunity is over.”

In other words: Unless the regime comes to a real nuclear agreement soon, or is overthrown, you can expect more IDF airstrikes in Iran in the near future.

Not only is Iran refusing to attend renewed nuclear talks with the U.S. (Bloomberg), they have also now disconnected all UN surveillance cameras from what remains of their nuclear sites, and banned the IAEA from Iran.

Ayatollah Khameini is angering Trump. He continues to issue delusional statements claiming to have defeated Israel and the U.S., and issue further threats to the U.S. Today the Kayhan newspaper, which represents the regime, out a death threat to Netanyahu and Trump on the cover page.

Trump responded on Truth Social with a very long post, key points being:

  • Khamenei shouldn’t lie
  • Iran’s evil nuclear facilities were obliterated
  • Israel and the U.S. Armed Forces are the greatest
  • Trump prevented both armies from eliminating Khameini
  • Trump held Netanyahu back from a massive attack on Tehran after Khameini violated the ceasefire in its first hours
  • Key point: Trump was preparing to remove sanctions from Iran so that they could recover and rebuild, but until they clean up their attitude, he won’t do it
  • “ I wish the leadership of Iran would realize that you often get more with HONEY than you do with VINEGAR.”

In another post, Trump denied the CNN report that he was preparing to offer Iran $30 billion to build non-nuclear facilities. Trump called it a hoax.

Mark Dubowitz of the Foundation for the Defense of Democracies (FDD) says that the Iranian regime is rounding up Jewish Iranians. There are many emerging reports of the regime arresting rabbis and others with relatives abroad, under the accusation of collaborating with Israel. Unfortunately it’s very difficult to get a clear picture, since it is too risky for the Iranian Jews to even say anything out loud.

There are less than 10,000 Jews remaining in Iran, of the estimated 100,000 who lived there before the Iranian revolution.

The regime’s Mehr News Agency has been using Iranian Jews in recent days for propaganda. The agency published photos of Iranian Jews gathered at the Abrihami synagogue in Tehran, to express their support for Khameini against Israel. Jews in Iran are forced to voice this support in public.

Yemen:

The Houthis woke up Be’er Sheva, Dimona, Arad, and the surrounding towns at 7:00 am on Shabbat morning, with incoming missile alerts. The missile was intercepted by Israeli air defenses, with no damage or casualties caused.

The IDF is preparing for a deeper offensive against the Houthis, to put an end to their annoying lone missiles.

Lebanon:

On Friday IAF fighter jets struck an underground Hezbollah facility which was used to manage and fire missiles. The IDF had previously struck the same facility, and struck it again now after Hezbollah was spotted attempting to rebuild and restock the site. The facility was in the Beaufort Castle area of southern Lebanon.

After the strike, sparks were seen bursting forth, and a rocket launched, hitting a home in nearby Nabatieh. One person was killed, and 11 injured.

The IDF placed the blame on Hezbollah, and responsibility on the Lebanese Army for not doing more to stop Hezbollah from storing dangerous weapons near civilians.

The IDF eliminated two Hezbollah commanders in southern Lebanon, who were in violation of the ceasefire agreement:

  • Hassan Mohammad Hamoudi, the commander of Hezbollah’s anti-tank missile unit in the Bint Jbeil area.
  • Abbas al-Hassan Wahbi, chief of intelligence in a battalion of Hezbollah’s elite Radwan Force.

Both were working to restore Hezbollah’s capabilities southern Lebanon, and bring weapons to the area.

Syria:

Sources close to the regime in Damascus told the Saudi newspaper “Asharq Al-Awsat” that negotiations are taking place with Israel—something confirmed by Al-Julani in May. The sources said that Syria is demanding an end to the Israeli airstrikes in Syria, the IDF withdrawal from areas entered after Assad’s fall, and a return to the 1974 agreement.

This aligns with statements from Gideon Sa’ar, Israel’s Foreign Minister, who says that in any normalization agreement with Syria, Israel will remain in the Golan Heights. He added that Syrian recognition of Israeli sovereignty over the Golan will be a good first step.

Earlier reports said that Syria would need to remove all the terror groups that threaten Israel and Syrian stability—something the regime appears to be doing.

During the war against Iran, Syria gave Israel free use of their skies to attack Iran (though I don’t think there’s much they could’ve done anyway).

Other:

Prime Minister Netanyahu denied the report in Israel Hayom about an agreement for a Palestinian State of any sort: “Israel was not presented with the political proposal that is supposedly described in the article, and it did not agree to it.”

Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneerson, the Lubavitcher Rebbe, is the most influential Jewish leader. The Rebbe proposed a visionary approach to lasting peace in the Land of Israel, rooted in the Torah’s wisdom and a profound understanding of geopolitical realities.

Since the 1950s, Israel’s political and military leaders sought the Rebbe’s counsel and blessing, and many continue to draw inspiration from his teachings today. Through his extensive correspondence with Israeli leadership and public talks, the Rebbe passionately advocated for a principled path to resolving the conflict.

The book “Make Peace” available on sie.org presents the Rebbe’s timeless vision for Israel’s security in a clear and accessible manner, distilling thousands of pages of his commentary into a systematic guide. By contextualizing the Rebbe’s insights within the framework of military strategy and Israel’s history, this book offers a compelling and practical approach to resolving the seemingly intractable conflict and fostering true, lasting peace.

If you don’t have a copy yet it is a good time to get one for yourself and a few to share with those who you encounter.
