Two Packed Zals Resound With Torah at Oholei Torah Mesivta

Walk into Seder at Oholei Torah Mesivta, and you will find standing room only. In the largest year in the Mesivta’s history, two packed zals and an ambitious new learning initiative reflect the chayus the bochurim are carrying from Tishrei into the months ahead.
The spirit of “V’Yaakov halach l’darko” is taking shape in daily learning and davening, with the Talmidei Hashluchim helping channel Tishrei’s inspiration into a full program of learning and activities.
“There was so much chayus throughout Tishrei, in the learning, the farbrengens, and the bochurim’s involvement in Mivtzoim,” said Menahel Rabbi Moshe Silman. “It is beautiful to see them begin the year with such enthusiasm, and we look forward to carrying that chayus into their learning and growth throughout the year.”
In addition to their regular sedorim and learning, the bochurim are taking on a new challenge: a mivtza launched by the shluchim to learn an entire volume of Likkutei Sichos. The initiative gives them another way to build and deepen their understanding of the Rebbe’s Torah.
“With this tremendously large group of shluchim and talmidim, you can literally feel the walls of Mesivta Oholei Torah reverberating with the sounds of learning and davening,” said Rabbi Eli Oster, Sgan Menahel of Shiur Aleph. “The energy and chayus are palpable!”
For the hanhalah, the enthusiasm filling the zals has made the start of the year especially meaningful.
“We are extremely proud of how the year is progressing. The talmidim’s learning and davening, and their enthusiasm is evident throughout the day,” said Rabbi Zalmy Laufer, Sgan Menahel of Shiur Bais-Gimmel.
That same spirit carried into the Mesivta’s first Shabbaton of the year, as Rabbi Kalmenson and Rabbi Golomb’s class spent a beautiful Shabbos in Plymouth, PA. Joined by the shluchim of Shiur Aleph, the bochurim shared farbrengens and time with their classmates and Maggidei Shiur in an atmosphere of achdus and Chassidishkeit.
A Melave Malka BBQ and bowling trip brought the Shabbaton to a joyful close, strengthening the friendships and shared enthusiasm that the bochurim bring back to the zal.
