President Trump has signed an executive order aimed at reducing the financial burden of IVF treatments, offering hope to families struggling with infertility. This move follows advocacy efforts by Jewish organizations that have been pushing for such measures.
President Donald Trump has signed an executive order aimed at reducing the financial burden of IVF treatments, offering hope to families struggling with infertility. The order directs the administration to develop policy recommendations within 90 days to lower the cost of IVF and improve access.
With treatment costs ranging between $12,000 to $30,000 per cycle and usually without any insurance coverage, this move could ease the financial strain on many couples hoping to have children.
“President Trump’s executive order today is a major milestone in accomplishing our goal to get all infertility treatment covered,” said Rabbi Moshe Margaretten, president of Tzedek. “With Hashem’s help, we will get to the finish line.”
In the frum community, where raising large families is especially valued, the high cost of fertility treatments has long been a challenge. Organizations like the Tzedek Association have been advocating for measures such as tax credits and insurance mandates to make these treatments more affordable.
“Many hopeful couples dream of starting a family, but as many as one in seven are unable to conceive a child,” Trump’s order states, recognizing the emotional and financial toll of infertility.
While the order does not immediately require insurance companies to cover IVF, it sets the stage for future policy changes that would make IVF more affordable for countless families. The initiative would also align the U.S. with policies in Israel and parts of Europe, where IVF is often covered by national healthcare systems.
