This Production is Led Entirely by the Girls Themselves

Bais Chomesh of Toronto’s production is more than just a play—it’s a completely student-led initiative that provides each girl with the opportunity to shine and grow. From scriptwriting and songwriting to managing practices and leading drama and music teams, every aspect of the production is handled by the students themselves.

Each year, Bais Chomesh of Toronto’s annual production is more than just a play—it’s a completely student-led initiative that provides each girl with a unique opportunity to shine and grow. Our dedicated 12th-grade production heads work closely with the students, building up their committees and empowering every girl to take ownership of her role, helping her discover her strengths and talents. From scriptwriting and songwriting to managing practices, organizing run-throughs, and leading drama and music teams, every aspect of the production is handled by the students themselves.

The production heads create a space where each girl can thrive, whether it’s through tech, props, stage management, or even fundraising by organizing a raffle. Every task, big or small, is an opportunity for leadership and personal growth. This experience instills a deep sense of ownership, teamwork, and creativity, allowing each girl to step up, shine, and embrace her individuality.

Set against the backdrop of 15th century Spain, preceding the Spanish Inquisition, the play follows two brothers torn between faith and survival. One, a wealthy merchant, struggles with pressure to convert, while the other, devoted to Torah, refuses to compromise his beliefs. Through unexpected allies and acts of bravery, they navigate the dangers of their time, ultimately reaffirming their Jewish identity. This powerful story reflects the timeless strength of the Jewish people and the unwavering commitment to our faith. The truth that “it’s never too late” is expressed vividly?

Our production is a labor of love, showing how every individual has unique strengths to contribute. The girls invest countless hours, weaving together creativity and commitment, transforming their vision into something inspiring. But beyond the stage, they are living what it means to lead—to take initiative, to uplift others, and to make a difference. As Chassidishe young women and dedicated Shluchos, they are stepping into roles of responsibility, bringing people together, and illuminating the world with their passion and hard work.

This play is not just an artistic achievement—it’s an immersive, hands-on education in leadership, perseverance, and the values that define the life of Shlichus. Throughout the process, the girls overcome challenges with determination and teamwork, turning every obstacle into an opportunity for growth. Each step they take builds their confidence and brings them closer to becoming the women who will inspire and lead the next generation.

We invite you to witness this extraordinary production, where history, creativity, and Chassidus come together in a truly unforgettable performance.
