Today, Chof Hei Sivan, marks the tenth yahrtzeit of Rabbi Mordechai Eliyahu, former Chief Rabbi of Israel who had a close connection with the Rebbe.
28 years ago, on the night of Vov Cheshvan, the Rebbe received Chief Rabbi of Israel Rabbi Mordechai Eliyahu, for a rare and unique yechidus.
The yechidus took place in the library next door to 770, and lasted for over two hours. During the entire time, the Rebbe spoke to Rabbi Eliyahu in Lashon Kodesh.
After the yechidus, the Rebbe accompanied Rabbi Eliyahu outside, and remained there until his car was out of sight.
In another video showcasing their deep connection, Chief Rabbi Mordechai Eliyahu spoke at the ‘Chanuka Live’ hookup at the Kosel about the greatness of the Maccabees and their commitment to scrupulously performing the Mitzvos.
“In our generation, this is exemplified by the Rebbe, who has brought so many closer to the Torah and its Mitzvos,” he said.
Connected via satellite hookup, the Rebbe stood and listened as Rav Eliyahu delivered his words of Torah and blessing.
The “Chanukah Live” international satellite hookup, united Chanukah celebrations held in New York, London, Paris, Moscow, Melbourne, Hong Kong and Jerusalem.
