After running operations out of four houses for many years, Chabad Chayil in Highland Lakes, Florida is getting reading to demolish the buildings and build a new ten million dollar center with room for all their activities.

Chabad of Highland Parks was founded by Rabbi Dovid Bryn in the late 1980s. After Rabbi Bryn’s passing, shluchim Rabbi Moishe and Leah Kievman began running the center.

As the community grew, the shluchim purchased more properties, eventually operating out of four separate houses that neighbored each other.

Eventually, even that was too small. The shluchim decided to demolish the houses and build a new, 5-story Chabad House with room for all their activities.

“The entire community has been waiting for this for such a long time,” said Rabbi Kievman. “We are all thrilled that it’s now becoming a reality. We hope to welcome everyone to the new building in around 13 months.”

The new building is expected to consist of more than 36,000 square feet of indoor space and 10,000 square feet for a rooftop park and terraces. It will house the Chabad center’s Community Hebrew After-School Program, CKids, CTeen, GROW Enrichment, Hebrew School, Dovid Bryn Library and the Family Shul. The building will include 14 regular classrooms, two specialty classrooms, adult and children’s libraries, an indoor playground, jungle gym, social hall and rooftop park.
