Shlichus Expo Now Open to Crown Heights Community

In a first for the Kinus, the Shlichus Expo includes an array of programs being showcased by Merkos 302’s various departments. Now, the Expo is expanding its reach by opening its doors to the Crown Heights community, including local schoolchildren, giving them a unique opportunity to connect to the Kinus experience.

In a first for the Kinus, the Shlichus Expo is a hub for Shluchim to learn from one another. An array of programs used by Chabad Houses around the globe are being showcased by Merkos 302’s various departments. Now, the Expo is expanding its reach by opening its doors to the Crown Heights community, including local schoolchildren, giving them a unique opportunity to connect to the Kinus experience.

“The Rebbe emphasized that Shlichus is the defining mission of our generation,” says Rabbi Mendy Kotlarsky, executive director of Merkos 302 and director of the International Conference of Shluchim. “Every year the Crown Heights community selflessly opens their homes for the Rebbe’s Shluchim. This Expo will give community members a front-row seat to see the realities of Shlichus, inviting them to experience the energy of the Kinus and hopefully leaving a lasting impression on our children.”

The fair, located on the corner of President Street and Kingston Avenue, is designed to be a fully immersive and interactive experience. Groups of local schoolkids and families are joining Shluchim to explore the tools, challenges, and achievements of Shlichus. For Shluchim, it’s a chance to gain inspiration from their pairs, while for local participants, it’s a window into the multifaceted work of Shlichus worldwide.

Coordinated by Rabbi Zalmy Weingarten, the pop-up Expo features booths highlighting the work of Merkos 302’s departments, including Chazak, MyShliach JNet, CKids, CTeen, CYP, Chabad On Call, and more. Visitors will experience curated videos, real-life stories, hands-on activities, and personal interactions with Shluchim representing communities from around the world. The exhibits cover all facets of Shlichus, from the programs that serve community members to those supporting Shluchim and their families.

“While the children of Crown Heights see the hustle and bustle of the Kinus on an annual basis, they don’t often have the opportunity to participate,” explains Rabbi Shimon Rivkin, director of CTeen International at Merkos 302. “This Expo involves the community’s children in the action, offering them an immersive glimpse into the daily life of a Shliach and inspiring them to see a role they might one day fulfill.”

Every participating student will leave with a small memento to emphasize their role in the Rebbe’s army. The Expo is open to the general public, with educators and administrators encouraged to bring their students during designated time slots for guided tours. These tours ensure that every child can experience the Expo in a meaningful way.

The Shlichus Expo will be open until Tuesday, Beis Kislev, allowing Crown Heights schools to participate, reserve a tour for your class here: BoysGirls
